How to Write A Killer Blog Post Titles In 2020. People often decide whether to read your post – and ultimately take action – based on the title alone. It can also determine whether or not they share your post. So it’s important that you spend the time to create titles that are captivating and enticing.
Why Killer Blog Post title Matters So Much
Your title appears in search engine result pages with a small description called the meta description. It serves as a one lined answer to what a visitor is searching for on google.
Your title appears in an RSS feed. Depending on how you organize your RSS feeds, readers can only see the titles and opening lines of your post before deciding whether to click through and read all of them.
Your title appears in the link. When other bloggers link to your post on their own blogs, they often simply copy and paste the title and then add the link. And their readers will decide whether to read your post based on that title.
In each of these situations, the title is probably the most important factor in getting people to read your post. Writing a tedious, complicated, confusing or without a compelling reason to click the title, a visitor may never click on it to read your post.
Is There a Formula for Writing the Perfect Title?
Much has been written about the title of the blog post. There are many theories and formulas out there, as well as a “swipe file” you can use to find a title template.
But while a swipe file can be a useful place to start, many formulas get overused. So you need to be careful about using them too much on your blog. By all means, read it to see how they work, but always try to adapt them to your readers.
Rather than provide yet another formula, I’ll share 5 things I try to do when I write blog post titles. For every title, I try to do at least some things on this list (but never all 5).

1. Communicate a Benefit
With each title, I tried to communicate the benefits or make some sort of promise about what the post will give you. I want the reader to know just from the title how they will benefit from clicking on the link and read the post.
When I tried to decide whether to read the post, I was always conscious of asking, “What’s in it for me?”
I think most readers ask questions like this. What are the benefits? Will I be comforted? Will I be informed? Will I learn something new? Will I hear something newsworthy? Do I feel inspired? Will the post provide the solution to my questions?
2. Think About Keywords and Search Engine Traffic
Every time I write the titles I ask, “What questions will be asked from Google to find this information?”
If I do not ask a question that I could potentially ignore half the traffic that can come to the site, especially in the long term. We tend to see social media traffic came when the post was first published, but after that 99% of the postal traffic comes from search engines.
3. Evoke Readers Curiosity
Much has been said about curiosity over the last few years. Sometimes it is excessive, to the point where we now have terms on content to arouse the curiosity without satisfying it – This is known as “clickbait”. what kind of content will frustrate your readers?
You do not have to give all the answers in the title. But you do not need to seduce or manipulate good people. Another good way to Evoke curiosity is to take a negative slant using words such as “error”.
4. Use Short And Precise Blog Post Tittle
Stay away from using a long-tailed blog post title when writing your title. Short title communicates better to your audience that long ones. This also helps your post to have good results in SERPs.
Although, writing long titles does not totally mean the post won’t rank, and writing short title does not mean the post will rank either, but, chances are that you will have better results with a short title. Another benefit is that it encourages click since your blog post title is displayed in a single line visible to the visitor.
5. Learn from others
